About Us
OUR STORY SO FAR…
Healthy Essentials Inc. was started in Humboldt, TN by Karen Murphy in 1996. Calorad had already been on the market for some years before, and when Karen heard about it through her local radio station, she decided to give it a shot.
After trying Calorad for a few months, Karen saw how well it worked and when presented with the opportunity to start a small side-business, she jumped on the Calorad train. Little did she know it would become much, much more…
After only a few months, both Karen and her husband Gary had quit their full-time jobs to keep up with their fledgling business. Starting in a makeshift office in their two-car garage, Karen and Gary created a thriving company, selling all-natural products to tens of thousands of customers across the United States and Canada.
In the summer of 1999, Healthy Essentials (along with Karen, Gary and their two sons Robert and Dennis) moved to Chandler, AZ. Although still a relatively small business, Healthy Essentials was quickly growing. Well-known all across the US, from New York, Illinois, Kentucky, Wisconsin and Ohio to Arizona, Idaho and California, Calorad MG and Healthy Essentials continued gaining more and more recognition. Local radio personalities from around the country that were taking Calorad MG shared their success stories and many more people found the weight and inch-loss product that they had been looking for.
In June of 2010, Healthy Essentials Inc. lost its founder and heart of the company, Karen Lynn Murphy. With this loss came some doubt as to how our small, family-owned and operated company would be able to continue to be as successful as before. Her son, Robert Bailey, stepped in to assume Karen’s duties in the summer of 2010. Having taught her son everything about their family business over the years, Karen had secured the future of Healthy Essentials Inc. for the foreseeable future.
With 2012 came a re-launch of both our website, www.theslimside.com, as well as a complete visual overhaul of our products and advertisements that had been a long time in the making.
